The building starts!

Monday morning everyone is awake and at the breakfast table. There is a mood of excitement as this is the first day of building the RAINBOW. After breakfast we all made our way to the rainbow site. On arrival the truck with the logs of wood was already there and all rainbow family members watched as the logs were being offloaded. Emotions were high as everybody came to the realisation this project is bound to be a success. A brief prayer was said and everyone went to their respective groups, the working mood was in full swing.

The groups “Ghandi” and “Martin Luther King” were the first teams to start building. They began digging knee deep holes for the foundation that had been marked out by Sasha and Klaus, digging took about an hour and a half and then it was done. Later the kitchen group, „Lech Wałęsa“, came to the rescue with a refreshing and delicious lunch as everybody was hungry. Afterwards the main support structure was built and erected by the working groups. Meanwhile team “Robin Hood” was discussing and planning the evening programme and devotion of the following morning. After a brainstorming and discussions they also came up with a sentence on what hope is. The group “Tesla” was busy being artistic, designing tiles for the Gate of Hope which we will all later build.

After a delicious supper prepared by the “Vanlenca” team in honor of Julian’s birthday our day came to an end with the evening programme conducted by the public group, were they emphasised on hope and shared a story with everyone and taught everybody how to make paper-cranes. It was great!

It was sad that we were told that two wanted rainbowparticipants of Kosovo could not come, because they did not get a Visa. It should have been rally nice and important to have people from Kosovo with us. But now we are to be without them.
This is really sad and we definately miss BUENA and HAJDAR very much.

Das Bauen beginnt

An diesem Montagmorgen war die ganze Regenbogengruppe auf den Tag schon sehr gespannt, weil der lang ersehnte Start des Arbeitens am REGENBOGEN endlich beginnen sollte. So machten wir uns alle nach dem Frühstück auf und begaben uns zu dem Bauplatz, auf dem der Spielplatz gebaut werden soll.

Bevor wir den Platzt erreichten, konnten wir bereits den Lastwagen mit den Stämmen und Hölzern sehen. Die Stimmung wuchs und alle waren fröhlich. Als der LKW abgeladen wurde, wurde uns allen klar, dass dies der eigentliche Beginn sein sollte. Anschließend folgte eine kleine Andacht von Abe und Klaus machte uns mit dem Gelände bekannt.

Nun sollte es endlich losgehen. Unsere fünf Gruppen verteilten sich und gingen ihren Aufgaben nach:

Die Gruppen „Ghandi“ und „Martin Luther King“ waren an diesem Tage die Arbeitsgruppen. Zuerst ging es daran, das Fundament des Regenbogens auszugraben. Eineinhalb Stunden wurde gegraben und gegraben. Nach getaner Arbeit war es dann Zeit für eine Mittagspause. Die Küchengruppe „Lech Wałęsa“ hatte Sandwichs vorbereitet  und die ganze Regenbogenfamilie traf sich auf der Baustelle zum Verzehr. Danach ging die Arbeit weiter. Die Arbeitsgruppe errichtete das Gerüst des Regenbogens, zwei dem Buchstaben „A“ ähnlichen Eckpfeiler.

Gruppe „Tesla“ war kreativ und gestaltete Tonfliesen für „The Gate of Hope“ (dieses wird später von der ganzen Gruppe errichtet), auf denen jeder einzelne sein eigenes Symbol für Hoffnung darstellte. Die Gruppe „Robin Hood“ war an diesem Tage die Public-Group. Sie plante das Abendprogramm und bereitete die Morgenandacht vor. Nach Brainstorming und Gesprächen fanden sie außerdem ihren Satz über „Hoffnung“ auf. Nach einem sehr leckeren Abendessen wurde das Abendprogramm gestartet. Dieses bestand aus Liedern, vielen Spielen, einer Geschichte von der Hoffnung auf Frieden und dem Basteln eines Papierkranichs.

Dies war ein wunderschöner und erfolgreicher Tag und lässt auf viele weitere solche Tage hoffen!
