Happy Birthday to Bojana and Alexander! We started our breakfast with a song for them :)

Today were also the first chance to take a shower in our garden. Yes I wrote garden. There is a tent in the backyard now, with a transportable shower. But we even have warm water because we get it from the kitchen :)

Rolf, Ellen and Anne drove one car today. Anne drove wonderful and even had a nice CD and so we, or at least I, had a reeeeeeeally nice journey :D (the boys were first joking that they don’t believe that driving with Anne would be save ;) But our rainbow queen can do everything!)
We went to a museum about the wall in the village Schlagsdorf, which was between east and west Germany in the past. A nice guy (Mr. Mai) told us a lot of interesting things. He told us about the different parts of the wall. There were fences, soldiers, mines, dogs and walls! For sure the people who invented this whole mess were crazy… At the end we visited the Mauerpark. It’s a park where old pieces of the wall are still shown. It was so bad to imagine that this whole construction was above thousands of kilometres…

Finally we were on our way to Hamburg. And finally the south Africans arrived!!! We were so lucky to see old friends again and meet new friends :D Johanna from Germany came with them and in the evening Heidi, who is from South Africa but studying in Germany in the moment, arrived too, so we are 6 more people now. The family is growing :D

But I’m losing my red line ;) Back to our day. After the big “Hello, how are you, how was the flight, is everything alright, it’s nice to see you (again)”-thing and a visit at the toilet of a church office at "Rockenhof" we went by subway in the center of Hamburg. We saw the town hall, the comfort bridge and ended at St. Nicolai, a memory church. It was destroyed in the second world war. You have to imagine a big place, like a soccerplace. At one side is a little wall left (there was the lord’s table) and at the other side is a big tower left. And you are a little person in the middle, trying to imagine this big church and how it was to lose it by a bombe…
Later we saw picture with all the stones laying on the ground and the houses beeing destroyed…

The tower is still intact, also his platform. You can go upstairs with a lift with big windows. There was a lot of screaming, because some people felt sick. It was more than 70 meter high! You had a beautiful view over Hamburg. But the wind was blowing cold, so we left it early.
Slowly we walked trough the city and then took a ride on a little ship. We sat in the sun, the river wind blew in our faces and we watched the harbour of Hamburg. The ship brought us to our subway and we travelled back to the cars.
Annes mother Brigitta invited us to their home for dinner. She cooked delicious curry with rice and even dessert! We sat in their garden and enjoyed the last pieces of sun.
But everybody was very tired, especially the people from South Africa, who just arrived and flight the whole night…
Back home we prepared the "beds". And I’m writing diary now ;) Somebody told me that some people want to have a party now, ‘cause of the birthdays we had today.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch Bojana und Alexander! Das Frühstück begannen wir mir einem Geburtstagslied für die beiden. Heute hatten wir außerdem das erste Mal die Chance eine warme Dusche im Garten zu genießen. Ja, tatsächlich im Garten. Wir haben dort nämlich ein kleines Zelt und eine tragbare Dusche, deren Wasser aus dem Küchenwasserhahn stammt.

Rolf, Ellen und Anne waren heute unsere Fahrer. Anne ist sehr gut (zum ersten Mal) in einem Bus gefahren und hatte auch eine sehr schöne CD, sodass zumindest ich die Reise sehr genossen habe (obwohl die Jungs natürlich erst Witze über Annes Fahrkünste gemacht haben. Aber unsere „Rainbowqueen“ kann halt alles ;) )
Wir sind zu einem Mauermuseum gefahren, das an der ehemaligen Grenze zwischen West- und Ostdeutschland liegt. Ein freundlicher Herr erzählte uns viele interessante Dinge über die Geschichte der Mauer. Es gab dort verschiedene Zäune, Soldaten, Minen und auch Hunde. Am Ende haben wir noch den Mauerpark besucht. Dies ist ein Park, in dem noch immer alte Mauerteile anzuschauen sind. Für uns war es eine ziemlich schreckliche Vorstellung sich die Vergangenheit in der Umgebung der Mauer auszumalen, vor allem auch, weil die Grenze so viele Kilometer lang war… Das Problem war nur, dass die Beschreibung ziemlich ausführlich war und viele von uns in der Nacht zuvor nicht genug Schlaf bekommen hatten.

Schließlich haben wir uns auf den Weg nach Hamburg gemacht. Und endlich hatten es auch die Südafrikaner dorthin geschafft. Wir waren so glücklich unsere alten Freunde zu treffen und auch die neuen. Johanna aus Deutschland kam auch mit ihnen und abends ist noch Heidi aus Südafrika, die aber in Deutschland studiert, zu uns gestoßen. Das bedeutet: wir sind jetzt 6 Personen mehr. Unsere Familie wächst :D
Aber oh, ich glaube ich verliere den roten Faden. Zurück zu unserem Tag. Nach der ausführlichen Begrüßung sind wir mit der U-Bahn in die Stadt gefahren. Wir haben das Rathaus gesehen, die Trostbrücke und die St. Nikolai-Kirche, die während des 2. Weltkrieges zerstört wurde. Heute sind die Mauerreste ein Mahnmal. Der Turm hat die Luftangriffe überlebt und heute können Touristen von dort oben eine schöne Aussicht über Hamburg genießen. Es war zwar ziemlich windig, aber immerhin hat die Sonne geschienen.
Danach sind wir zur Hafencity gelaufen und haben eine Bootstour gemacht. Weil alle, ganz besonders die Südafrika sehr müde waren, sind alle dankbar gewesen, als wir uns auf den Rückweg gemacht haben.
Annes Mama lud uns zu einem leckeren Abendessen samt Nachtisch ein. Um kurz nach 8 Uhr sind wir dann wieder in unsere Autos gestiegen und haben uns auf den Weg nach Lübeck gemacht. Dort angekommen haben wir unsere Betten vorbereitet. Jetzt schreibe ich das Tagebuch, aber jemand hat mir erzählt, dass einige Leute noch eine kleine Geburtstagsfeier machen wollten. Ich werde mich ihnen jetzt anschließen. Bis morgen :D
